The 11 edition of the fashion and design forum is underway in Yaounde with several designs on display.
The forum brings together top fashion designers to share their experiences with other budding professionals in the field.
The forum is holding under the theme “Launch-Hope-Encouragement and professionalization” and hopes to showcase the excellence of Cameroonian fashion.
Launching the event which runs from November 23-29, the French Ambassador to Cameroon, Christophe Guilhou who is equally patron of the event said fashion is another way to valourising and exporting culture and urged participants to ensure they must have taken a step forward in their careers at the end of the forum.
On Tuesday, the forum continued with a professional workshop on textile beadworks for young designers. Seasoned pearl maker Igénie Nomba from the Jean Félicien Gacha Foundation shared her know-how with the designers in the presence of celebrated Cameroonian designer Imane Ayissi.
Ayissi who is the artistic director of the forum, equally passed on his knowledge to the professionals during a screening and discussion sessions aimed building the capacities of the fashion professionals. This was later followed by a fashion exhibition from all the professionals who had brought their craft for display.
The forum continues throughout the week with conferences, debates as well as exhibitions from the various participants.
The forum is the biggest fashion event in Cameroon and was launched in 2009 by fashion designer Yves Eya’a.
